Christmas Pictures

Family went out to dinner at 馥園. The decoration is nice (the Japanese clients love it), but the pricey set-course meal wasn't terribly special, although most of the prix fixe probably went toward the massive pieces of shark fin in the signature soup. The coolest thing were the mini-pumpkins in the centerpiece. They carve felicitous characters into the pumpkins when they are little down on the farm, so when they become full-grown the scar forms the full-size characters.

Yes, Christmas in Taiwan is just as commercialized as in the States (duh). This Christmas "tree" at Warner Village is brought to you courtesy of OKWAP (the cell-phone brand of Inventec, the big Taiwan contract-manufacturer, personally I think they should've just stuck to Inventec). They do have the techiest non-Japan Hello Kitty phone out there, if that matters any.

Went out with the GF and her cousins to the TGIF in 西門盯. The TGIFs in Taiwan are pretty much exactly the same as the TGIFs in the States (complete with flairs!), except they show Premier League on the TV instead of the NFL on Sundays. Yeah, the food is the same, too, but it's been long enough that even an average bacon cheeseburger tasted pretty good at this point.

We went to Tom Lin's house after lunch at TGIF. His kid was glad to have all the girls over to play with. Couldn't get a steady shot of her without the flash because she was running around the whole time.
